5 Tips to Re-setting At The Start Of A New Year

Did you start the year full of energy and enthusiasm, bursting with joy and vitality and with zero hesitations or doubts about your future? No?? Well, you’re not alone.


Most people ended 2021 armed with goals and aspirations for 2022 ready and excited for a fresh beginning. However, as we approach the end of January, people are finding that their momentum from just a few weeks ago is already fading and time is moving quickly.


If this is you and you’re fed up and ready to approach it differently, it’s time to hit The Reset Button.


You owe it to yourself and those around you to do things differently – after all what was it Einstein said – the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.


So, let’s start with focusing on 5 tips to not only re-setting but also rejuvenating,

re-energising, rethinking and reorganising (instead of the 55 things you may be trying to focus on yet not getting the results).


1. Your Mood

If you’re not in a good mood or state, how do you expect to get anything done? Wouldn’t you love to know how to improve the way you react to challenging situations or demanding people in your life? There is one magic question that has created wonders for my clients and I’m going to share it with you now.


Firstly, acknowledge where you are right now, ie, here, and secondly ask yourself ‘Where next’? This allows you to do two things – one is to accept the fact that you are here and you can’t go back and secondly it offers you possibilities to choose something different rather than blaming someone else or staying stuck.


2. Your Space

An organised mind starts with an organised space – look around you right now – are there things that are piled up high, not in the right place, covering the floor? Set aside some time to organise a corner of a room, or a cupboard or a drawer and gradually complete a room. Notice how much happier you feel when things are organised around you.


After one of my private clients did this exercise, she couldn’t believe how great she felt after tidying out her underwear drawer, throwing away all her old underwear and replacing it with new items - she felt a million dollars. Not to mention the sparks that were added in her relationship.


3. Your Body

What you choose to nourish your mind with will affect your state just like what you nourish your body with will affect your energy. How many times do you choose live foods over processed foods? I invite you to Introduce one more live food into each meal and reap the benefits. Your body will love you for it and you’ll notice how much your focus, concentration and mood all improve.


4. Your Mind

Have you noticed how differently you behave around different people? We are so affected by who we surround ourselves with. Is 2022 the year to select more wisely who you choose to spend your precious time with? If you feel drained and exhausted when meeting up with a friend or loved one, could it be time to prioritise yourself and take some steps back from that person. This is a very important step to re-energising your mind.


5. Your Habits

We all have habits we are not particularly proud of. One of the habits that has the most impact on our health is what we consume. Let’s look at food as an example.

Next time you eat, really slow down and honour the food in-front of you as well as honouring your body by eating it with full awareness.


Check in throughout the meal to ask yourself if you are full or if you feel satisfied and if the answer is yes to either, then pop your utensils down.


Which one or two of these steps will you focus your attention on before the month ends?


Time sadly doesn’t stop still and there’s no time like the present to change things that are no longer working.
